Is Your Little One Struggling with His or Her Sleep?
The first thing to know is you’re not alone. A lot of babies and children struggle to develop and maintain healthy sleeping habits, which, unfortunately, can lead to all kinds of other problems. The most serious side effect is that it can harm the healthy development of your child. Studies have shown that good sleep is imperative to a baby’s cognitive and physical development and can even help ward off problems like ADHD and obesity. In other words, bad sleep is hardly just an inconvenience – it’s a serious problem that can affect a child’s well-being, both in the short and long-term.
Chances are it’s also affecting you and your significant other in negative ways. Poor sleep isn’t only bad for the health of children, it’s also bad for adults and can lead to anxiety, depression, and sickness. Parents with children who don’t sleep well are generally stressed out, exhausted, and struggling with their own physical and mental well-being.
As your sleep consultant in Orlando, I’m here to help!
Trust me, I’ve been where you sit right now. When my husband and I had our little girl, we were completely blindsided by the sleeping troubles. She wouldn’t sleep more than a few hours at a time – which meant we weren’t either – and we went on like this for some time. But, at the nine-month mark, when we hadn’t had a full night’s sleep in nearly a year, we were at a loss. That’s when I knew we had to figure something out.
That’s when I discovered the Sleep Sense program, which has been used by tens of thousands of parents to help their children sleep better. It worked so well, in fact, that I knew that I needed to help other parents accomplish what we had. I went through extensive training and have since helped dozens of parents help their children sleep better and get their own sleep back on track.
Ultimately, every child is different, which is why I take a custom approach to every child and set of parents I work with. Each child has his or her own personality and each set of parents have their own approach to parenting. That said, the age of your child determines how I will begin our work together, which is why I offer a few different packages based on age group.
Pre-Natal & Newborn (0-3 Months)
Most of the parents I work with don’t ask for help until they’re at their wit’s end. They’ve struggled for months if not years trying to get their child’s sleep on track, only to finally throw in the towel and seek professional help. But, if you’re close to your delivery date or have recently given birth to a little bundle of joy, then there are many things you can do at this stage to set your newborn up for sleep success right away. Infant & Baby (4-18 Months)
This is the stage of a baby’s young life when sleep problems usually begin to manifest themselves. It might be that your baby can’t seem to sleep through the night or won’t take regular naps during the day; or, maybe he or she sleeps fine, but only when co-sleeping with you, and you’ve been unable to make the transition to the crib. Whatever the specifics of your situation, I’ll help you develop a detailed plan for getting your baby’s sleep straightened out while providing regular follow-up support. Read More.
Toddler (19 Months & Up)
Dealing with a sleepless infant is challenging, but toddlers often take it to an extreme! They’ve become much more imaginative and creative, and if they’ve always struggled with sleep things can get much more difficult at this point. But don’t lose hope! It’s still very much possible to get them on track with a clear plan, goals, and established routines. Ultimately, a toddler’s poor sleeping habits can follow them into their teenage and even adult years, which is why it’s so important not to simply grin and bear it. Read More.
While consultations, customized plans, and follow-up support work for many parents and their little ones, some prefer a little extra help. One of the ways I do this is by offering in-home support, where I will come to your house and either spend a half night or full night giving you hands-on advice about how to handle the nighttime routine and what to do when your baby fusses, while answering any other questions you have.
